I doubt most of my readers read this type of books but I still find it a good idea to let people know about this. Her book Beyond the Third Eye has been pulled from publication after it was found that she had plagiarist big parts of the book. The people behind this exposure are now being harassed all over the internet by Rochelle her self and her fans. Now you are at least aware of this and can make a choice to warn people about this or not.

I must say that I had a lovely time on Witctalk today and I hope all of you liked it as well. There were much more I would have wanted to say so look out for a follow up episode:) I can not recommend the show enough. Karagan is great and I feel honoured he wanted me on the show considering all the occult masters he have had on his show. Even topics that I normally are not that interested in Karagan makes interesting. I am a big fan of the work Karagan has done with the show. So those of you that has not discovered it yet really should download a few episodes.

Anyway to download shows go to this page and scroll down to the list of shows. At the moment the show with me should be at the top and at the end of it there is a download link. From here you can also access all the episodes from the archive.

I also would like to thank all the people who came to listen. Bappho and her son thewretchedcrow both came in to the chatroom:) Only thing that sucked with being on air was that I couldn’t chat really and do my clever remarks that I usually do:)

Best Regards

This Sunday the 15th at 21:00 GMT I will be on Witchtalk speaking with Karagan about demons.

Here is the text describing the show.

Numina is the plural of the latin term for the power of either a deity or a spirit that would be present in places and/or objects in the Roman religion. Demons (or the “immunda” or unclean “numina”)have a strange and obscure history. We do not know exactly where they come from and for some they don’t even exist. The fact is that in the history of magic, there are whole systems build to call upon these spirits and this is a fact…. One can even argue that most of the demonology that we can find in Judaism, was in fact carried from Persian Temples. Maestro Nestor’s interest in the occult stemmed from an interest in the darker aspects of magic during his teens, including Satanism, which he practiced until his early twenties. On a trip to New York things changed when during a book buying spree he encountered Cavendish’s The Black Arts and Waite’s The Book of Black Magic which introduced him to the grimoire traditions, and since then he has explored the right hand path traditions extensively. His work has previously been published on a variety of websites, as well as in Swedish language magazines
. His essay “Demons & Devils” appeared in the Both Sides of Heaven anthology edited by Sorita d’Este. He is currently engaged in working on a series of books on the practice of grimoire magic. See www.grimoiremagic.com for more information. On this show, we will listen to what Linus have to say about this particular intelligences and also learn why it is not a good idea to make pacts (contacts) with them! A WITCHTALK SHOW you will never forget! Linus biography written by Sorita d’Este for the anthology “From a Drop of Water” by Avalonia Books.

A great review-essay on grimoire publishing posted on Hadean Press Blog written by Jake Stratton-Kent.

Yours truly is even mentioned for my work in Both Sides of Heaven.

“Both Sides of Heaven is another compilation, with a most impressive list of contributors (including ardent grimoirists Aaron Leitch, David Rankine, Stephen Skinner, plus Charlotte Rodgers and yours truly). There is much of value here, and I mention but two personal favourites. Gifted academic and occult practitioner Kim Huggens gives an excellent appraisal of the daemons intermediary role between gods and men in the Hellenistic era. Maestro Nestor shares a personal account of his liberation from a truly demonic pact made in his youth, which marked the beginning of his mature path as a grimoire traditionalist.”

Hi all!

Today I received the Lion skin part that will be made in to the belt of the Goetia. It was a perfect piece that has not been tempered with which I am glad for since I want to do that part my self. It really is a beautiful skin that is hard to describe the feeling of without holding it in your own hands.

Here is the front side of it with the fur.

Here you can see the back of it without fur and this is where the text goes when done.

You will be able to read about how I made the things still needed to be done in Volume II in the Series on Grimoire Magic. I will also video tape all that I do so it will be easy to follow. An alternative to using a real lion skin belt will also be presented in the book and video. Will take a while to finish that project and I need to finish volume I in the series first of all since it is a primer to all following books. I hope you can all live with me being a bit slow on finishing the stuff:) I do way to many things at the same time.

Brazilianguy made some good questions regarding the book I am working on that I think deserves its own blog reply.

His questions were:

I’ve noticed a couple of grammar mistakes, but no doubt you will revise the whole text before publishing.

Can you tell us if the book gives examples of results obtained with the rituals, as well as methods of verifying if the entity summoned is present (in case of evocations)?

Also, will the book teach the student how to tackle any grimoire?

My reply:

Well spelling and grammar I leave to the editor :)

This first book will be a primer and is mainly for two purposes. First is to introduce the reader to the concept of grimoire magic. So it is very general. Second is to create a base of knowledge for coming books in the series. So this one will not go in to results much or specific techniques since they differ a lot among the grimoires. It is generic though so most of the knowledge in it will apply to many different grimoires.

The next book on the other hand will be purely practical as I will go thru each step of the Goetia and will end with an evocation. So everything from how to get the items needed, preparing the items, fasting and the actual evocation. As a bonus I will actually video tape what I do so it will be possible to get it all on a few DVD’s as well. That includes the final evocation. Difference is that the book will go deeper in to details then the video. So you will get those answers first of all for the Goetia.

What I come up with for book 3 I have not decided yet. All I know is that I want it to be different from other things out there. My goal with this has from the beginning been about doing fresh material with the exception perhaps with the first book that will be rather basic for already established grimoire magicians but my hopes is that it also will create a door in for people interested in it but who think it is to much to handle.

I hope this cleared some question marks up for all of you:)

This is an unedited part that deals with the relations to God when working grimoires. The text might change some before the book goes to print.

God or Gods

God or gods are important in Grimoire magic because when we work with these entities we are doing it thru our divine spark. In theory we all are creations of god no matter what god or gods you choose to believe in and it is thought that we all have an inner part of god in us often called the divine spark. It is thru that we can actually do magic. Many believe that Moses was taught magic on the Sinai Mountain while he also received the books of Moses. So in Judaism, Christianity and Islam mythology Moses was the first magician and it was with that magic King Solomon built his temple of by ordering an army of demons to do the building of the temple. So the connection to the grimoires is rather obvious.

In more or less all the grimoires the religions inspiring them is Judaism, Christianity or Islam. That means they all share a rather similar concept and that many of the textures for these religions apply to more than one of the religions. You do not need to be a deeply religious person to do this magic but you needs to believe in the entities you are invoking or evoking. If you do not do that you will not succeed in your work. It is important though to understand that your personal faith can be far from how most religious people view their religion.

There are some things you need to be able to accept when working with the grimoires regarding its relationship with religion. First thing you need to be able to accept is that their design is including many religious ideas and theory. Also you cannot change that design unless you know exactly why it is designed that way. Many of the magicians in the times the grimoires were written were highly religious people and sometimes even priests. You also need to have a belief in the spirit world and have some sort of belief in a higher being symbolized by God. All you have to be able to do is to apply your own belief structure to fit in with Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Basically the demands to be able to do this kind of magic can be summarized in to being able to accept the following. There is a higher intelligence that in part exists in all humans. The magic works thru that part of that intelligence that is in us and it lets us control a number of higher and lower beings in the spiritual world. The symbols and words used in this kind of magic fits in to a larger design often based on a religious system. Changes to these symbols and words cannot be changed without fully understanding the design. The important part in the grimoires is not how you perceive the spiritual; it is how the grimoire makers perceived it that matters.

If one can accept those terms it does not matter if you personally believe that God is actually called “Spiderman” or “Jehovah”. Nor does it matter how you perceive the spiritual world, at least not to be able to perform the magic in the grimoires. All that matters is that you can look beyond your own belief structure and apply it to the grimoires belief structure or at least are willing to set aside your own belief structure and apply another one. If you cannot do this you will be better of finding another system of magic to work with.

It is also very important to figure your belief system out before you start working with this kind of magic. You do not want to go head to head with a demon and be insecure about your own beliefs. Also remember that most churches consider this kind of work to be the work of the devil and that it will judge you to an existence in hell after life. Not that I agree with this but unless you are very sure that you will not agree with that in the future you perhaps should reconsider doing this or any kind of magic.

I am wondering if there is an interest in having a reoccurring competition each month where you can win a book of magic? Free postage as well of course. I will try to make each competition different and welcome every idea you can give me. It can be a writer thing where you write a small article about your magical work for example or it could be to write a ritual for a specific purpose. The choices are endless. I am sure I can find interesting books to win each month as well as I have a rather large library:)

Anyway I want to hear comments on this. The more the better. You can comment on the site or on facebook it does not matter to me since I am checking both places.

Best Regards

Maestro Nestor

Just wanted to give you all a heads up on the interview Karrigan from Witchtalk did with Sorita d’Este a week or two ago. She mentions many interesting things for all sorts of magicians.

You can download it here.

Just scroll down the page a bit and you will find it.

Like a week ago Witchtalk made an excellent interview with David Rankine that you just have to listen to if you have not heard it yet. Even yours truly gets a small mentioning in it:)

Anyway you can find the interview here http://www.blogtalkradio.com/witchtalk just scroll down the page until you see David and you can even download it and listen to it wherever you want to.

Review of The Satanic Bible by Anton Zandor LaVey:

This book contains no original thought. It is just plagiarized work from Ragnar Redbeard, Ayn Rand and the Golden Dawn. The rest is a mix of ideas stolen from Darwin, Crowley and Nietzsche. In most of the cases he has not even bothered to rewrite the ideas he stole in his own words. The only people who can think this is new and fresh must never have read any books on the subject before. Instead of raising the book to the skies it should be removed from the book stores because of pure theft.

It claims to be Satanism even though there is no Satanism in this book. The forewords nail it down to social Darwinism which is a much better title for what this philosophy really is. It is atheistic which makes it impossible to call it Satanism according to all definitions of what that word really means. He has more or less hijacked an already established definition and claims his is the correct one even when his own books make that impossible. It is similar to the Republican Party suddenly claiming they are Hindu. It just does not work that way.

To support this they make silly claims that there has never been Satanism before LaVey. Another proof that they do not read books much. What about Stanislaw Przybyszewski a self proclaimed Satanist who wrote several books on his teachings? How about August Strindberg who was also a self proclaimed Satanist and also wrote about it? Then we have Ben Kadosh who listed him self as a Luciferian in the Danish records. There are tons of examples long before LaVey was even born. Another common argument is that it was not organized before LaVey. Not true either. Strindberg and Stanislav belonged to the same group of Satanists together with many other famous Satanists such as Joris-Karl Huysmans. If we go further back in time it is hard to ignore Gilles de Rais.

So what is this book really? It is an attempt at creating something that would bring attention but still not be bad enough to cause a major out roar. This way it was possible to seem like an educated and reasonable group and still get to be called Satanists. It made it possible for people like Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis Jr to play bad without it actually being bad. People that are well read weren’t fooled by it though and will always consider this a major scam and theft. The book is a disgrace to the occult society and a mockery on real Satanists.

Just wanted to tip you all of a great article written by David Rankine called Solomon’s Keys: Revealing the Origins of Modern Ritual Practices. It takes up some really interesting theories on how the key was used and connections between high and low magic. Go here for a good read.

Not sure if more then me have missed Lisiewski’s calculator since announced that he was going to retire from writing and the public. Here it is now on the original falcon press website. Click here to go to the calculator. It calculates the most appropriate hours during the day to perform different tasks according to the Kabbala of Dr Lisiewski. It is a very useful and easy to use tool.

Now after the show which was extremely interesting and very funny at times can be downloaded from the Witchtalk site. It is well worth the download. The interview covers some info on Sorita, Avalonia Books, Different issues about Wicca, Hekate, Both Sides of Heaven, Angels and questions from the audience. It was even continued after the show was ended so it is a long interview.

This is the book that made me realize that I was not alone with many of my opinions. For a long time I felt rather alone and undermined on forums and places like that for how I believed things worked when it came to evocation and grimoires. Lisiewski changed all that not just for me but for many magicians of the old arts that have been oppressed for such a long time by modern ceremonial magicians.

It is a book that serves many purposes. First of all it is a guide in traditional grimoire magic and shows how to apply a traditional style to the grimoire Heptameron which is also included in the book. Now you can debate weather or not all the axioms he lays forward are really needed or not but at least it is a serious attempt of creating a sort of standard for working with the grimoires.  It is also explained in a very simple way without any of the cryptic stuff modern new age magicians are so famous for. This is the book I recommend that all new students on grimoire magic reads first of all. Then they can move on to the more complex grimoire translations out there by legends like Stephen Skinner, David Rankine, Joseph Peterson, Donald Tyson and many less known translators and editors.

If you can you really should try to get a hold of the few Journals called Howlings from the pit that he wrote that further describe his style of magic. He expands a lot on his theories regarding grimoire and old school magic in them.

Another thing I love about this book is how he totally bring down the modern new age magicians of today. He does it with undeniable logic and using their own theories against them. He gives both Alister Crowley and the Golden Dawn a well needed wake up call and also reveals some interesting information on what Israel Regardie really thought about the Golden Dawn system that most modern magicians praises to the sky’s today.

That I think is a very important message that this book has. New is not always equal to better. Many people seems to have taken this the wrong way and think he is against all development but that is not the case. He is a strong believer in what is called New thought. Not just Crowleys and Golden Dawns version of it. I personally believe he suspected the same as I have for a long time. That something went wrong with magic during the period of the Golden Dawn and Crowley and that what we have today is a very weak version of magic that you can even question if it actually is magic or if it is not more a way to reach self enlightenment. Modern magic seems to have forgotten what magic really is about and Lisiewski explains this in a very effective way in his book.

It is a very provocative book and I can understand that many people feel hurt by it since it is basically saying that most modern magicians today are not even doing magic. Still I think this is a book that every magician should read since it will challenge you and probably upset most readers. If you can not take that you really have no business doing evocations anyway in my opinion.

511lg2TG1YL._SL110_

After reading a bit more then half of the book I decided to not read more of it. You find your self constantly skipping between times and the grimoires he is talking about. Would have been much better if he would have talked about one book at a time and not all of them at the same time as it is now. The structure of the book feels more like a lack of structure and I fail to see what the chapter names has to do with the content of the chapters.

Also I think his definition of what defines a grimoire is very different from mine since he seems to bunch many magical books that I do not feel belong to the grimoire tradition at all in to it.

His talk about the grimoires being astral magic makes no sense to me either. Astral magic is when you work on the astral plane. The grimoires on the other hand is designed to take spirits from the astral plane to the physical so it hardly qualifies as astral magic.

The material it self seems mostly correct though but because of the lack of structure I just cant continue reading it.

I have also asked my self for who this book is written. It is to complex for beginners and to unstructured for the scholars. The magicians usually wants something more specific then this. So who was the main target for the book?

With a good structure of the text I think this could be a good book though but as it is now I would not recommend it.

I am sitting here only 4 hours after I received Avalonia Books A Collection of Magical Secrets that is translated by Paul Harry Byron with introduction and commentary by Stephen Skinner and David Rankine and find my self having read it in one sitting. It is a rather small book at only 161 pages but those are some extremely interesting pages.

The first of two parts of the book deals with something that is often called “experiments” in the grimoires. It is shorter and often easier ways to obtain things then doing an entire evocation in a grimoire. It deals with things from ways to not get shot, find treasures, curing diseases and all kinds of wonderful things. One thing that struck me was how similar some of the “experiments” are to the Swedish Black Art Books that circulated around Sweden in the 1700’s to the 1800’s. Some of them are very alike but do not use as much Latin and the Swedish material is more connected to the Swedish way. It feels though as if much of the Swedish Black arts Books must have lent ideas from the grimoire “experiments” since it draws from older sources. I wonder if not folk magic that was practiced in the 1700’s to 1800’s are not more related to the grimoires then many modern magicians care to admit.

The second part is more like a divination technique to get in to a sort of ecstasy stage of mind where deep Cabalah secrets will be revealed to you. This is something I have not worked with before but the descriptions are very straight forward so I think I will actually give it a go when I have the time.

This was a great presentation of a material that is often overlooked and underestimated. It is nice to see that people care about giving the public access to these more unusual materials that David and Stephen keeps bringing us. I believe this will become one of my favorites rather soon as I get more in to it. So this is defiantly 5 stars out of 5 possible!
